Firenze – Logge Uffizi Corti
Il rapporto tra agricoltura e ambiente (intersezioni, reciproche influenze) rappresenta un tema di un certo interesse tra passato e presente. Si avverte oggi una grande sensibilità intorno al verde per la difesa ed il ripristino ambientale, e al ruolo che può essere svolto dall’agricoltura nella sua accezione più ampia, che comprende anche l’allevamento e l’uso del bosco e degli incolti. Ma tale interazione ha caratterizzato, sebbene con caratteristiche molto diverse, una storia millenaria, segnando momenti di continuità e discontinuità. La Giornata di studio, organizzata in occasione del 50° anniversario della «Rivista di storia dell’agricoltura» (1961-2011), intende fornire una aggiornata trattazione sulle persistenze e cambiamenti tra Età antica e Alto Medioevo, al fine di documentare, nel quadro di questo passaggio storico, gli effetti dell’agricoltura sull’ambiente (spazi coltivati, coltivazioni praticate e tecniche colturali; allevamento e pastorizia; bosco e incolti; modifica e costruzione dell’ambiente fisico); e, viceversa, dell’ambiente sull’agricoltura (condizioni geofisiche; risorse naturali; cambiamenti climatici). Attraverso un bilancio storiografico e la pluralità di fonti storiche e archeologiche saranno affrontati i problemi della periodizzazione, delle persistenze e dei cambiamenti avvenuti, approfondendo alcuni degli aspetti più significativi. L’ambito geografico di riferimento sarà la penisola italiana, con accenni al più vasto contesto europeo e mediterraneo.
