Marcel Kalberer ha appena terminato la sua prima istallazione italiana, ospitata da Arte Sella in Trentino.
Marcel Kalberer realizza edifici unici al mondo, che rappresentano la vera unione fra architettura e mondo vegetale. Edifici vivi, che crescono, si modificano con le stagioni, mai uguali a sé stessi, incredibilmente unici e irripetibili. La sua architettura è anche un happening sociale. Centinaia di volontari (giovani e vecchi, donne e uomini) lavorano insieme con entusiasmo e piacere per realizzare vere e proprie architetture “viventi”. Kalberer sostiene che lo sviluppo ecologico senza un corrispondente sviluppo sociale sia insensato e inutile, così come una migliore tecnologia ecologica senza il miglioramento delle condizioni umane.
I moderni edifici “verdi” costruiti con salici viventi possono essere considerati come la forma più radicale dell’architettura organica. Il corpo di fabbrica non nasce seguendo analogie formali, strutturali o distributive tra abitazione ed organismo, ma costituisce esso stesso un organismo, una struttura-albero in grado di svilupparsi autonomamente, costituita da elementi costruttivi vegetali e radicata saldamente al terreno. Questi moderni edifici verdi consentono una conciliazione tra natura ed architettura in quanto il corpo di fabbrica, piantato nel suolo come un qualunque filare di alberi, consente un utilizzo degli spazi interni paragonabile a quello offerto dalla normale architettura pesante. Con il vantaggio che, invece di investire risorse preziose, si determinano positivi processi vegetativi quali l’assorbimento di anidride carbonica mediante fotosintesi, la formazione di massa vegetale, la produzione di ossigeno, la regolazione climatica, la depurazione dell’aria, l’accumulo idrico e il continuo mutare dell’immagine di anno in anno così come al variare delle stagioni. Il letterato e visionario Micky Remann ebbe modo di scrivere che “i corpi di fabbrica costruiti in salice non sono affatto esempi di edifici moderni determinati dalla convergenza di energia e risorse ma rappresentano radicali non-edifici assolutamente ecologici; ciononostante possono essere annoverati tra gli esempi di architettura moderna.”
