Riccardo Dalsi, architect, born in Potenza in 1931. Dalisi’s project are one of the most innovative and interesting purpose of international architectural view. Distant from the not useful shows of power of many architects, they born from the live beating and contradictory reality of Naples with his soul of a gentle and severe researcher.
We meet him in Naples, in his studio.
The intuitive moment is the real project, all the rest is the project concrete expression. Is the creative act, like the throw let you see something that doesn’t exist, but should be exist.
My first work was a set designing for the “Oltremare” expo. A made e set designing for a very modern theatre for a modern show. I made in a particular manner, with light from the back of the stage so the public should see the mizzen staysail, the carrying structure of the stage. Than I began work as an architect, an apprentice architect. For several years I done a university carrier as an teacher’s assistant. When I became a teacher I start a particular set, because I brought my student to a sub proletarian’s neighbourhood of Naples and I bring the student in contact with the street’s child. This was an experience vary famous in Italy.
From this I pass to the design, because I think the design is an area where I should test this relation.
This relation between the student and the people of this sub proletarian quarter and the student was like a meeting of culture, the proletarian and the university one. This experience change my future experience. The professor Burkardt had underlined this experience as important, because I take all the elements of the pop culture in the international smart and sophisticated culture of design. So all the production was suggest by the child, like the one made by Zanotta. For example the “Mariposa”, a bench was one of the first made in aluminium In the design’s world, that have the shape of a butterfly, and you go to seat on the wings of the butterfly.
